Jeff King is one of the best known and most successful dog sled racers in the world. He has won the ultimate test in dog sled racing, the Iditarod, five times. He’s a northern California native that left the small Marin County town of Terra Linda in his teens to chase his dream in Alaska. Not only has he been a successful racer but he and his artist wife have turned into a successful business couple as well. During the 2016 Iditarod King and another racer were attacked during the race by an apparently intoxicated snow machine driver. King’s lead dog was killed, two of his other dogs were injured. The other racer’s dogs also suffered injuries in the incident. This story about King highlights his love of his dogs, his life and his surroundings.
